CHILDREN'S ART CLUB - TAUGHT BY UW-STOUT ART EDUCATION STUDENTS

CHILDREN’S ART CLUB meets every Tuesday at 6pm the UW Stout Library during the UW-Stout academic calendar.

This year's chosen theme is "Art Around the World", so you can expect projects, mediums, and art inspiration from all around the globe!

Our ultimate goal is to provide an enriching experience for your children that will instill in them an appreciation of art and creative expression that will last a lifetime.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, and we hope to see you on Tuesdays!

ART EXHIBITION: "Dark Days Bring Out Distorted Beauties", featuring drawings created by male inmates at the Dunn County Jail who refer to themselves as a "hopeful group of men working to bring change and better themselves."   The drawings were created during an “Expressive Arts” class, taught and exhibited by UW-Stout Art Education student and A.I.M. intern, Hana Buttles.

"Beads and Breakdancing: Understanding Empathy Through the Arts"

In a multimedia presentation, Dr. Tami Rae Weiss shares various arts strategies from dancing to doodling through which teachers can cultivate empathy with even the youngest of learners. Specifically, Weiss emphasizes an untaught literacy in schools which is of most importance: aesthetic literacy, which she describes as the ability to read human emotion.

CANVAS CREATIONS - Painting classes for teachers!

A.I.M. is offering a FREE step-by-step painting classes to UW-Stout (CEHHHS) and Menomonie School District employees and UW-Stout pre-service teachers, in celebration of the theme, “Think Spring!”  All skill levels are welcome!!

The “Canvas Creations” class will be taught by Mrs. Johna Stern, an art teacher in the Eau Claire School District (and UW-Stout alum in Art Ed!).

Arts Integration Menomonie “aims” to enhance teacher confidence, competence, and happiness by providing teachers with arts skills and experiences that they may integrate into their instructional practices.  To learn more about A.I.M., please visit www.artsintegrationmenomonie.org.

P.A.I.N.T. COMMUNITY CLASSES

PROGRAM FOR ARTS INTEGRATION FOR NEW TEACHERS (P.A.I.N.T.), an off-shoot of Arts Integration Menomonie (A.I.M), offers free art classes to community families taught by UW-Stout pre-service teachers!

P.A.I.N.T. is a UW-Stout program in the College of Education that offers internships to pre-service teachers so that they may gain hands-on arts teaching experiences right here in the Menomonie community!  Classes are designed for children and adults to have creative fun exploring the visual arts!

REGISTRATION IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED; LIMIT OF 20 PEOPLE PER SESSION; Once the session has reached capacity participants will be added to the waitlist.

The event celebrates the cumulative efforts of C.I.T.A.'s classroom teachers, student teachers, and teaching artists who have worked together all semester.  Each teaching group is represented by a display of process and product through an art exhibition and/or performance by their students. This special night brings A.I.M.'s partners together to share the collective efforts of C.I.T.A. participants, as educators who share common goals and strategies in and through the arts for meaningful quality educational experiences. Family and friends welcome with free refreshments!

The Strength of the Human Spirit

Join Dr. Tami Rae Weiss and Eva Schloss on Saturday as they talk about art as a way children communicate their emotions and understanding of the world. Through her close relationship with Eva Schloss, Holocaust survivor and step-sister to Anne Frank, Weiss will share Eva’s story as a testament to the strength of the human spirit, something we can promote in children in early childhood. From Eva's book, The Promise, the words of her father: "Everything you do leaves something behind; nothing gets lost. All the good you have accomplished will continue in the lives of the people you have touched." Be inspired!

PRIVATE CONCERT TO TEACHERS BY PETER YARROW OF PETER, PAUL, AND MARY

WHAT:  Arts Integration Menomonie- A.I.M. is excited to invite educators from the Menomonie Area and UW-Stout to a private performance with Peter Yarrow!

Peter Yarrow is a singer and songwriter from the 1960's trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, whose greatest hits included, Puff the Magic DragonBlowin' in the Wind, and If I Had A HammerHe was an activist and peace advocate during the Civil Rights Movement.

Peter Yarrow calls his mission for the last 10 years, Operation Respect, an anti-bullying campaign that promotes tolerance and civility in schools. The purpose behind Operation Respect is to assure each child a respectful, safe and compassionate climate of learning, free of bullying, ridicule and violence, whereby their cognitive, social and emotional development can take place.

In alignment with A.I.M.'s goals to celebrate the teacher who is the most integral component in education and to celebrate partnerships among UW-Stout and the Menomonie School District, Peter Yarrow's Wednesday evening private performance will include his Operation Respect program and concert.

This is a private, by-invitation only event. Seating is limited to the first 250 attendees. Desserts will be provided during the break. A cash bar will be available the night of the show, opening at 5:30pm.

Socialization and song with Peter will continue from 7:30-9:00pm).
